A Bay Shore woman's family is concerned after discovering a potentially dangerous odor.
Vinny Arena says there has been an odor coming from the basement of his mother-in-law's Clinton Avenue home.
Arena says it started after a crew from National Grid started drilling a hole in the foundation to test for soil vapors.
This is the latest scare in what homeowners describe as an ongoing nightmare that began more than a decade ago when a toxic plume with potentially cancer-causing chemicals was discovered flowing under the neighborhood.
National Grid is testing the air, but test results showing any possible vapors may not be back for a couple of weeks.
