Residents in Lynbrook say a National Grid project has been going on at all hours of the night, and they have the video to prove it.
Joe Kinlan shot a video along Merrick Road on his cellphone which shows crews using jackhammers and saws from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m.
Kenny Murphy lives close to where National Grid is upgrading a gas main. He says the overnight drilling is keeping him and his two young daughters awake at night.
A National Grid spokesperson sent News 12 a statement saying, "The work is being done, according to county permits, during the night in order to minimize the impact to traffic on Merrick Road. We apologize for the inconvenience."
Kinlan says he spoke with someone from the county last Wednesday about rescheduling the project to daytime hours. When he followed up with that person on Friday, he got a voicemail recording saying that person was going on vacation until Thursday of this week.
News 12 also reached out to Nassau County about the night work. A spokesman from the Department of Public Works said, "This is a National Grid project, not a Nassau County project."
