Nassau officials says there will be increased DWI and BWI patrols on roads and waterways over Labor Day weekend.
Nassau Executive Ed Mangano says there were 47 DWI arrests over Labor Day weekend in 2015. He also says there were 13 fatalities related to drinking and driving.
"Do not do this to yourself, most importantly do not do this to an innocent pedestrian or other motorist," says Mangano.
Officials say anti-terror patrols will also be increased.
Police will be monitoring social media and work with local, state and federal law enforcement in an effort to keep residents safe over the weekend.
