Police across Long Island are telling residents to expect stepped-up security around the holiday.
Nassau County police say there will be more anti-terror and DWI patrols for the Thanksgiving holiday and weekend.
The efforts include more police around shopping areas, houses of worship and other gathering places.
Suffolk County police say they are also taking similar actions, including cracking down on drinking and driving.
As for terror concerns, Suffolk police say there is no credible threat to the county.
Police are urging people to be careful on the roads and to report anything that appears to be suspicious.
