Nassau and Suffolk police responded to over 100 motor vehicle crashes throughout the snowstorm on Sunday.
There were approximately 80 incidents in Suffolk County from midnight to midnight, Suffolk police say.
Nassau police tell News 12 they had a total of 60 crashes between the hours of 6 a.m. Sunday and 2 a.m. Monday.
"As the ice comes in and as the night goes on, it gets colder. Those numbers could go off if people aren't staying at home," says Dan Melody, the Director of Planning at the Nassau Office of Emergency Management.
Crews are constantly going over the roads, but the ice is making them more slippery, according to Melody.
