The owner of a Nassau County liquor store says $200,000 worth of high-end bottles of alcohol was taken from his store in a burglary Sunday night, with the suspects returning a second time Monday morning for more.
The owner of Nobel Wines and Spirits wished to keep his identity private as he continued to sort through inventory to find out what else was taken. He reached out to News 12 after seeing reports of nearby incidents.
“I wish someone said, ‘Hey, owners on Long Island, this is happening, be aware.' I didn’t want this to happen to anyone else,” he said.
Nassau police confirm they are investigating an incident at Nobel Wines and Spirits on Oct. 22. They believe it is the work of two people.
The owner said that surveillance video shows those unknown people burglarize his store around 10:15 p.m. and return overnight for hours to take even more items.
"It's pretty devastating. You try to build something. It’s been a grind to do this and build this, and they just took all the high-end items— liquor and wines. It’s a gut punch," the owner explained.
There have been multiple liquor store robberies on Long Island recently. Nassau police confirm they're investigating two separate incidents from earlier in October. At this time, they cannot confirm if any or all of the incidents are related.
Detectives say two men broke into the Wine Society liquor store in Greenvale on Oct. 9 and took off with bottles of alcohol. The men left in a white pickup truck. Three people broke into Raeder's Wines and Liquors in Albertson on Oct. 10 and took multiple bottles. The suspects left the store in a black BMW.
