Both Nassau and Suffolk counties are preparing for the upcoming snowstorm that is set to affect the area Saturday into Sunday.
Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone held news conferences to outline their emergency preparedness plans.
Both executives touted new emergency service vehicles and plan to pre-treat roadways before any snow reaches the Island.
Officials are urging residents to stay off the road during the storm due to the blizzard-like conditions that are expected. Residents are also being reminded to park in their driveways, allowing plows to remove snow accumulations.
Forecasters are predicting approximately 8 to 14 inches of snow.
