The Nassau County SPCA is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest after a cat was left paralyzed by two gunshots in Glen Cove.
The cat, named Gracie, was found crying and paralyzed outside her home on Taft Place Tuesday.
Veterinarians say the cat had been shot twice, with a bullet hitting her spine and abdomen.
The cat's owners say Gracie, who is 5 years old, is very friendly to everyone in the neighborhood and they cannot comprehend why anyone would harm her.
Her owners are holding out hope that Gracie will survive operations and will be able to walk again.
Police say the shooting likely happened around 7 p.m. Tuesday. Anyone with information is asked to call Glen Cove police at 516-676-1002 or the SPCA at 516-THE-SPCA.
