Long Islanders whose homes were damaged or destroyed by Superstorm Sandy could be eligible for a property tax break.

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano today announced temporary tax relief for property owners hit by Sandy.

Sandy victims will either get a refund or a credit. The amount will be based on how much damage they sustained minus any insurance reimbursements.

Mangano says the money to pay for this is coming from the state.
