Nassau County has put plans to build a new police precinct in Wantagh on hold.
Resident Lisa Ray says she found out there were plans to move the Seventh Precinct when she got a letter in the mail from the Nassau County Planning Commission. She then called to get more information.
Ray was told the precinct was moving to Cedar Creek Park, on land between the park's entrance and exit. The letter she received was a notice of a public hearing.
Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano's office says that hearing has since been canceled.
County Legislator Steven Rhoads says he agrees with the decision, and that the community should have had input into the relocation from the start. His office plans to hold a community meeting on Jan. 19 to further discuss the issue.
