Nassau police are looking into a possible bias crime after they say two men were attacked in Lakeview because they were thought to be gay.
Police say three men jumped out of their car on Woodfield Road around 1:30 a.m. Sunday and pummeled the two victims while using anti-gay slurs. According to investigators, the alleged attackers first encountered the victims at a gas station, where there was a physical altercation.
The three men then allegedly caught up with the victims a little later on. The two men suffered black eyes, swollen lips and superficial cuts.
Robert Bellamy, 23, was arrested for the attack. The two other alleged attackers are on the loose.
