Nassau police offer tips on safe trick-or-treating
Nassau police offered up tips on how to stay safe while trick-or-treating this Halloween.
They advise trick-or-treating on one side of the street and crossing at corners. It's also a good idea to carry a flashlight.
Parents are warned to remember in detail what their child is wearing. Kids who are going with groups should take a cellphone along to keep in touch with their parents.
Nassau police said they were stepping up patrols Monday night to help keep kids safe and prevent property damage.
