Nassau police increase patrols to crack down on intoxicated drivers over holiday weekend

Officials are urging drivers to use proper judgment to help keep the roads safe.

Police officers are out and about in Nassau County to make sure Long Islanders celebrate the New Year safely.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder announced the enhanced patrols to identify and arrest motorists driving under the influence of drugs and or alcohol for the holiday weekend.
 
Officials say police will be patrolling the roadways through today in order to continue their effort to keep roadways safe and free from intoxicated and impaired drivers.  These heightened patrols will utilize STOP-DWI grant funds.
