Some Nassau police officers changed up their uniforms for a day.

Dressed as popular comic book and movie characters, the officers paired up with more than 50 Westbury students to pick out holiday gifts.

The shopping spree was part of the annual 'Heroes and Helpers' event.

The department says “it’s all about putting a smile on their face at Christmastime."

Each student was given $100 to buy what they liked.
