The Nassau Police Department teamed up with the groups Toys of Hope Children's Charity and the American Giving Project to spread some holiday cheer Saturday to children in need.
Officials were traveling in a caravan across the county, handing out more than 3,000 presents for underprivileged children.
"Today is all about us and the community, building that trust, starting from the foundation, building up," says acting Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.
Toys were handed out in Uniondale, Roosevelt, Freeport and Baldwin.
