An Elmont man accused of assaulting two police officers Saturday is facing multiple charges, according to authorities.
Police say officers on patrol around 3:30 p.m. recognized 28-year-old Hurguens Jasmin walking on Dutch Avenue.
After approaching him about a warrant out for his arrest in Nassau County, authorities say he began to attack the officers.
He allegedly punched one officer in the face multiple times and attempted to gouge out the other’s eye while trying to flee the scene.
Both officers were hospitalized for treatment, according to authorities.
Police say the charges against Jasmin include two counts of assault, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.
He is set to be arraigned Sunday in Hempstead.
