The Nassau County Police Benevolent Association is showing its support for a gay teacher who was fired from a Seaford school.

The PBA parked a billboard outside Saint Agnes Cathedral on Wednesday in a public backing of Michael Califano, whose father was a Nassau County police officer killed in the line of duty in 2011.

In addition to the union, many community members have come to Califano's side in recent weeks after the teacher says he lost his job at Maria Regina School in Seaford when officials were sent pictures of him kissing his boyfriend.

The diocese says the decision had nothing to do with Califano's sexuality.
