Nassau officials honor police for National Police Week

National Police Week has been celebrated every year since 1962.

Monday kicked off National Police Week, and to celebrate, local departments on Long Island are recognizing their men and women in blue.
Members of the Hempstead Village Police received honors today. The officers who were on hand have helped save lives and stopped crimes across the village.
Hempstead's mayor said that hard work does not go unnoticed and their sacrifice is appreciated.
National Police Week has been celebrated every year since 1962.
