Nassau Legislature Rules Committee votes to move forward with transferring operations of Nassau Coliseum to Las Vegas Sands

The Nassau County Legislature Rules Committee voted Monday in favor of transferring operations of the Nassau Coliseum to Las Vegas Sands.
The lease would require Las Vegas Sands to keep the Nassau Coliseum open for at least two years and allow them to book events and main the property. It would also provide security for those who work at the Coliseum.
Those against a proposed casino at the Nassau Hub spoke out against the proposed lease transfer, saying it was the first step toward a casino coming to the area.
The full Legislature will vote on the matter Aug. 5.
