The Nassau County Legislature Rules Committee passed a controversial bill Monday that would ban transgender women from female sports teams at county facilities.
The bill moves to a full Legislature vote on June 24.
The vote comes after county legislators introduced the bill on Friday. Nassau County Democrats said they believe the law is illegal and shouldn’t even be voted on.
The bill is similar to an executive order signed by County Executive Bruce Blakeman, which was struck down in May by a New York Supreme Court judge.
