Nassau legislators announced Tuesday that it's forming the Disability Awareness Advisory Group to help county residents with disabilities.
Officials said it would be a bi-partisan effort to work on new ways local leaders can better work for those in need.
"What we're trying to accomplish today is make sure that Nassau County is living up to its promise to include all of our citizens and to give voice to our disabled community to be part of that process," said Leg. Steve Rhoads.
The advisory group will consist of 15 members that includes representatives in the disabled community as well as its advocacy groups.
