Nassau legislator Josh Lafazan offers helping hand to 18-year-old running for West Islip School Board

An 18-year-old Long Island candidate for school board has a new mentor who has been in a similar position.
Quinn Bedell is getting help from Nassau County Legislator Josh Lafazan in his upcoming race for the West Islip School Board.
Lafazan won a seat on the Syosset School Board 11 years ago at the age of 18.
"This brought back so much nostalgia - I feel like I'm 18 all over again," Lafazan said.
Lafazan helped Bedell install lawn signs and showed him that every vote counts.
"It's great to have him helping out," Bedell says. "He knows how to do it and he knows how to win."
The 18-year-old believes he has the momentum to win a school board seat in the upcoming election.
Bedell says he is just trying to do what is best for the community and the students.
There are a total of four candidates, including Bedell, running for three spots on the school board.
Bedell is a write-in candidate. The election is less than two weeks away.
