Nassau County lawmakers have agreed to financially bail out the struggling Cradle of Aviation Museum with a $500,000 cash infusion.
Presiding Officer Judy Jacobs (unaffiliated-Woodbury) says the agreement will allow the county to monitor the museum?s progress as it tries to overcome a $2.5 million deficit. In exchange for the money, Jacobs says the museum must meet attendance goals and sign 10 new corporate contributors within 180 days. Nassau lawmakers are also insisting on an interim financial report.
The deal still needs to be approved by the Nassau Legislature and the museum board later this month. Jacobs says the approval is almost certain.
