Nassau has launched new websites to track road resurfacing projects throughout the county.
Damaging potholes, cracks and crevices are common complaints among Long Island drivers like Francis Botto, of Syosset, who says crumbling roads give his pickup truck a beating.
"I get afraid that I'm going to pop a tire, blow out my suspension," he says.
Nassau says it has heard thousands of complaints about unsafe intersections and roadways, leading to the creation of two websites that outline the Road Resurfacing Program.
The first website allows the public to see which county roads were resurfaced in 2018 and which roads will be paved this year.
The second site is intended to help residents understand which municipality has ownership and maintenance responsibilities for every segment of roadway in the county. It will also identify which municipality residents should call to report road problems.
County Executive Laura Curran says "no pothole should fall through the cracks" with the websites in place.
Suffolk does not have similar road repair sites.
