Heather and Dave Kean said Wednesday that there isn’t a proper way to thank seven Nassau police officers and medics who saved their 5-year-old son’s life last month.
The boy, David, nearly drowned in their neighbor's pool. When the police medics arrived at the Hicksville home, they say their thousands of hours of training kicked in and they moved David into the waiting ambulance.
Medics were then able to clear his airway.
David says he wants to be a magician when he grows up. He still loves the water even after the incident.
Bureau of Special Operations officers, police medics and Second Precinct officers involved in the rescue were honored Wednesday by the Nassau PBA and the Legislature for their heroic actions. They were named Nassau's Top Cops for September 2018.
