Nassau GOP says they will not endorse Rep.-elect Santos for reelection in 2024
The decision comes days before the Republican is expected to be sworn in after his victory in New York's 3rd Congressional District.

5h agoThe Nassau County GOP will not back Rep.-elect George Santos if he decides to run for reelection.
The decision comes days before the Republican is expected to be sworn in after his victory in New York's 3rd Congressional District.
Nassau County GOP Chairman Joe Cairo released a statement, saying in part, "I don't know what party would endorse him as a candidate...This Republican committee will not support George Santos in 2024."
The decision comes after Santos admitted to embellishing parts of his education, work experience and faith.
A rally was also held by Democrats on Thursday calling on Congress to investigate Santos.
Robert Zimmerman, a former congressional candidate who lost to Santos, says there is more at stake than just the results of the election.
"What's at stake before is protecting our democracy, restoring our confidence in the integrity of our public officials and most of all, protecting the American dream," Zimmerman said.
News 12 reached out to Santos for comment but has not heard back.
Santos is set to take office on Jan. 3.
