A Texas woman is facing up to four years for attempting to scam her cousin out of more than half a million dollars.
In 2020, the victim bought a million-dollar winning scratch-off lottery ticket at a 7-Eleven in Glen Cove and asked his relative to cash it in, but she claimed it was only worth $20,000.
After the victim contacted police, detectives found that the woman had collected $537,000.
The Nassau district attorney has confirmed that the woman has returned most of the money and will now be sentenced for her crime.
