Nassau County is set to host Student Vaccination Days at Hempstead's Kennedy Park with the goal to vaccinate more kids 12 and up.
"Schools are going to open in September. We really want our young people to have as normal a school experience as possible, and getting young people vaccinated 12 and over is incredibly important. It's available, it's free," said Nassau County Executive Laura Curran.
The five-day event runs from Tuesday, July 27 through the end of the month.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, just over 78% of people in the age group have received one shot in the county, and nearly 70% are fully vaccinated.
