The Nassau County SPCA is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect responsible for stabbing a dog 17 times last month.

The dog was found with stab wounds by a woman in Freeport, according to authorities.

Officials say she brought him to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. He was then taken to a veterinarian hospital in Farmingdale for treatment.

Authorities say the dog’s lungs leaked air from the wounds. However, he did survive.
