Nassau County SPCA offers $5,000 reward for information in Freeport dog stabbing case

The Nassau County SPCA is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect responsible for stabbing a dog 17 times last month.
The dog was found with stab wounds by a woman in Freeport, according to authorities.
Officials say she brought him to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. He was then taken to a veterinarian hospital in Farmingdale for treatment.
Authorities say the dog’s lungs leaked air from the wounds. However, he did survive.
The dog was named Cornell by the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter, according to officials.
The Nassau County district attorney encourages anyone with information to call the animal crimes hotline at 516-571-7755.
