Nassau County has created a new campaign, #TasteNassauToday, to try and endorse local restaurants.
The county is open for indoor dining. Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says that the county is more than just pizza and bagels - it has a diverse selection of restaurants from seafood to Mediterranean.
She says the county wants everyone, including New York City residents, to know that it is open for indoor dining and safe.
County officials say they want to spread the word, especially as the colder weather puts a chill on outdoor dining.
Pejman Toobian, who owns the restaurant Colbeh in Great Neck, says the campaign is just what is needed to help restaurant owners climb out of their financial holes.
When asked about safety concerns regarding inviting residents from New York City into the county, Curran said, "Just using the common sense protocols, the social distancing and the cleanliness; it does work and we can do it here."
Curran says she hopes the multimedia campaign will dish up some dough and get diners heading to the county's downtowns.
You can find downtown restaurant deals in Rockville Centre, Farmingdale and Great Neck and in Suffolk, in Huntington, Patchogue and Greenport.
