Nassau County Executive Laura Curran unveiled her $3.5 billion budget proposal for 2022, which includes tax cuts.
Curran is proposing to slash $70 million in property taxes and reduce taxes by $150 million over the next four years.
"With this tax cut I am proud to put money back into the pockets of Nassau County homeowners as we continue to revive our local economy and recover from the pandemic," says Curran.
Curran says her proposal will provide relief for homeowners, prioritize public safety enhancements, and maintain fiscal discipline.
In response to the budget proposal, a spokesman for the Nassau GOP says, "Majority legislators proposed rolling back almost $100 million in government fees yesterday, and they invite the county executive to join them in helping taxpayers. At the same time, legislators are eager to consider all proposals that are focused on reducing taxes in the best interest of Nassau taxpayers."
