Nassau County officials announced that they are preparing for the potential effects of Hurricane Isaias that's on track to come up the East Coast over the next few days.
"Our emergency capabilities have been tested like never before this year, we will continue to be ready for whatever comes our way," says Nassau County Executive Laura Curran.
Curran says the county is keeping watch on the storm that is set to potentially accelerate toward the area on Tuesday as a strong tropical storm.
Residents could expect high surf, dangerous rip currents, high winds, heavy rainfall and coastal flooding.
"If storm evacuation becomes necessary, we have additional shelters available to accommodate social distancing," says Curran.
Curran says she just wants residents to be prepared just in case.
"Make a preparedness kit with food, water, battery and other basic supplies enough for three days," says Curran.
In addition, residents who live in a flood zone are asked to take some time to map out a route.
