Curran: 28% hospitalization drop since apex; testing will continue to expand

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says that as of Thursday, there were 1,778 COVID-19-related hospitalizations – 700 patients less than 10 days ago.

Nassau officials announced over 32,000 people have tested positive for COVID-19, but for the 10 straight day there was a decline in the number of hospitalizations. That represents a 28 percent drop since the apex.
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says that as of Thursday, there were 1,778 COVID-19-related hospitalizations – 700 patients less than 10 days ago. In addition, out of every 100 residents that have been tested, 24 were positive.
Officials reminded residents that they have expanded testing in hard hit areas, including Hempstead and Freeport. They will add additional sites in Elmont and New Cassel in the coming days.
