A powerful drug used to help combat heroin overdoses will soon be available at drug stores across New York without a prescription.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo is allowing independent pharmacies to provide Narcan, a medicine that reverses opioid overdoses.
It is already available in CVS, Walgreens and Duane Reade.
