Delays and cancellations on multiple LIRR branches
The MTA says cold weather caused a switch at Jamaica to malfunction, causing multiple delays and cancellations on Monday.
It happened around 4 p.m., and it was down for 11 minutes.
Crews had to shut down power in order to make repairs and the switch has since been fixed.
Eastbound service from Penn Station and Grand Central was restored after being temporarily suspended due to switch trouble at Jamaica.
There are delays and cancellations along the Babylon, Ronkonkoma, Long Beach, Oyster Bay, Hempstead, Far Rockaway, Port Washington and Port Jefferson branches, according to the MTA.
The subway is honoring LIRR tickets on the train at Grand Central-42 St and Woodside-61 Street and on the ‌E train at ‌34 St-Penn Station‌, ‌Forest Hills-71 Av‌, ‌Kew Gardens-Union Tpke‌ and Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport.
