The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is set to use $2 million in federal grants to fund an automatic rail-car inspection system.
The agency says this upcoming pilot will allow Metro-North Railroad to conduct daily inspections more efficiently. The improvement is said to detect issues at a much faster rate while reducing repair time.
The benefits are expected to help commuters be less impacted by train track troubles.
