The MTA is making changes at its LIRR station in Lindenhurst after a situation proved deadly to some pigeons in the area.
Workers on Wednesday removed netting that was trapping the birds in an overpass.
Although the birds are no longer trapped, officials say many of them remain in the space.
News 12 previously reported that the birds were dying off after becoming trapped inside the net. MTA officials say the nets were installed in an attempt to keep pigeons out.
State Sen. Phil Boyle says the plan was made with good intentions, but needs improvement. In the meanwhile, he asks commuters to be mindful of leaving food around that might attract more birds.
