The Metropolitan Transportation Authority Monday proposed its first fare hike since 2019.
The agency wants to raise fares by around 4% on the Long Island Rail Road this fall.
Tolls would also go up by 5.5% under the proposal.
The MTA says it is planning to hold public hearings regarding the proposal in June with a vote slated for July.
It says the increases would likely take effect before Labor Day.
