Monday brings a big step forward on the road to reopening for movie theaters, museums, zoos and other entertainment venues on Long Island.
Movie theaters are now allowed to increase capacity to 33%, up from 25%.
Indoor and outdoor arts and entertainments venues that are considered low-risk -- which include museums, zoos, historical sites and aquariums -- can boost capacity to 50%. That's up from 25% previously.
Museums like The Cradle of Aviation in Garden City will now be able to allow up to 1,500 people a day inside. Its president says that's a huge help to restoring some normalcy.
"The more people that are allowed to come in the door, the better we feel about things," says museum President Andrew Parton.
Next up -- large, indoor arenas can increase capacity to 25% beginning May 19.
