Nightmarish images were shown to several children Thursday night after a Holtsville theater made a major movie mix-up, leaving parents livid.
Frank Doll took his 3-year-old son Frankie to see the age-appropriate "The Last Mimzy" at the Island 16 Multiplex. However, he was surprised by what showed up on the big screen. Instead of the children's movie, thriller "The Hills Have Eyes 2" began. The opening scene, which features a woman giving birth to a mutant while chained to a bed, caused families to pick up and run out of the theater.
In a written statement, the theater's parent company, National Amusements, extends its deepest apologies to the audience and claims it is working to prevent the situation from happening again. However, Doll said personnel on site didn't seem too apologetic.
"That was really what the problem was," Doll said. "They didn't seem like they were that sorry about it."
Meanwhile, Doll said Frankie was up all night in fear of "scary hands."
The theater issued two free movie passes for each ticket purchased, but workers have not told parents what caused the error.
