One year to the day a baby was found dead on a Hempstead street, a motorcycle club rode in remembrance of the boy's short but meaningful life.
American Spirit Motorcycle Club members rode to the Island of Hope Cemetery Sunday to place flowers on the grave of baby Michael Hope. Organizers say the purpose was to bring attention to the state's Safe Haven Law, which allows unwanted children to be dropped off at agencies, no questions asked.
The law, which the AMT Children of Hope Foundation lobbied for, may be responsible for saving a baby girl. The infant was recently found alive in a bathroom at North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital.
