Mother and daughter from LI missing; car found in NYC
Authorities are searching for a Greenport mother and her teenaged daughter who haven't been seen in several weeks.
Iona Costello and her 14-year-old daughter, Emily, were last seen on March 30. Officials say the two went on a trip to Manhattan. Relatives say they planned to see a few shows on their weeklong city visit, but they never returned.
The two were reported missing after Emily Costello, a student at the Ross School in East Hampton, didn't show up for class following spring break.
Costello's car was then found inside a parking garage on 42nd Street in midtown, two weeks after the pair had left for the city. But there have been no signs of Costello or her daughter.
Neighbors say Costello, a 51-year-old widow and a devoted equestrian, tended to her horses on her farm every day. They say she hired workers to care for the animals while she was away, but add that it is unlike her to have left her home and animals for this long.
