A Southampton Town police officer pleaded not guilty Monday to additional charges added to his 2007 indictment for allegedly soliciting sex from women he was supposed to arrest.
Guy Giammatteo faces four additional charges of official misconduct. The 33-year-old also pleaded not guilty to the previous indictment, which included 14 counts. He has since been suspended from his job.
The defense claims all the charges have been orchestrated Danny Pelosi, a convicted killer and Giammatteo?s brother-in-law. The lawyers say the allegations are revenge for Giammatteo and his wife testifying against Pelosi in the murder of Ted Ammon.
However, some Southampton residents say they aren?t shocked by the allegations and see them as another case of abuse of power.
Giammatteo will face a judge once again during the trial in June. A conference to discuss both indictments is set for April 4.
