Month of Green: Recycling plastic
In today's Month of Green segment, News 12's Elizabeth Hashagen looks at recyclable plastics.
You've probably seen the numbers on plastic bottles and containers. But do you know what they mean and if you can put them at the curb?
Ten Long Island towns and cities now accept plastics one through seven.
Here's the list of what each number means:
One - Water and soda;
Two - Milk;
Three - Detergents;
Four - Squeezable bottles;
Five - Plastic containers;
Six - Styrofoam and egg cartons; and,
Seven - Everything else.
Only the towns of Easthampton, Islip and Southampton accept only plastics one and two.
