Children and adults alike can have fun while protecting the planet for future generations. News 12 Long Island's Elizabeth Hashagen has some products that are sure to brighten up your loved ones' days this Earth Day.
When it comes to toys, the earth-friendly options continue to grow every year. Local toy stores are sure to carry planet-friendly items for all ages. At Fun Stuff Toys in Seaford, it carries products by Green Toys, which are made from recycled milk jugs. Items such as a recycling truck and helicopters to farms and puzzles are fun for the kids and safe for the planet.
For older kids, Fun Stuff toys has a series of green science kits by 4M. One kit shows kids how to take dirty water and make it clean!
To save some money and the planet, there's a Netflix-type website called Pley that lets subscribers create a wish list and then rent toys online, including Legos. The toys are fully sanitized, and when you return them in the prepaid box, the next toy in your list will be shipped.
And of course, you could always create your own toys from recycled materials, such as cereal boxes and milk jugs.
