Money raised for the medical bills of an infant girl allegedly beaten by her father has been stolen, the baby's grandfather said Friday.
Anthony Biondo said cash and $2,500 in jewelry were taken from a cash box under his bed in his Deer Park home. Several fundraisers have been held to pay for the baby's medical bills, and Biondo said the money stolen was from the most recent event.
"When does it stop?" Biondo said. "When does this nightmare just end?"
Biondo's granddaughter, Evelynn, was allegedly thrown off a bed and kicked repeatedly by her father, Joshua Cohen, when she wouldn't stop crying in June. Cohen is currently in jail.
The next fundraiser for Evelynn is scheduled for October 13 at William Floyd High School in Mastic, the town where Evelynn lives with her mother, Alicia Biondo.
