More than 130 residents of a rehabilitation and nursing home in East Islip were evacuated due to a fire on Saturday.

The incident took place at around 3:45 p.m. at the Momentum at South Bay for Rehabilitation and Nursing Home on East Main Street.

Officials say repairs were being done on the roof at the time and that torches and tar may have sparked the flames.

Authorities report that no one was injured, but a first responder was sent to the hospital with a back injury.

The fire chief said that some of the patients evacuated were bedridden and on oxygen.

Patients were allowed to return to the facility after an hour and a half.
