Slippery road conditions remained into the night well after the evening commute Wednesday, although snowfall began to taper off around 7 p.m.

News 12 Long Island reporter Christine Insinga was in Mobile 12 checking on the roads.

Visibility was extremely low during the height of the snowfall during the evening commute. Even after snowfall and winds slowed down, many roads remained unplowed.

The storm also brought down tree branches that became road hazards in some places, including on Amby Avenue in Plainview, which is also a dimly lit road.

Slush remained piled up on busier streets like South Oyster Bay Road around 7 p.m. 

Forecasters said dangerous travel conditions were expected to remain after the storm passed, and authorities urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel.

Stewart Avenue in Westbury remained slushy and slippery at 8:30 p.m., when snow had turned to rain there.

Route 135 northbound near Jericho Turnpike remained wet and slick Wednesday night after snowfall began to wind down.
