A Floral Park man was discovered Saturday at New York Hospital after he went missing three days earlier.
Family members say Pat D?Amico, 83, never came home from his walk last Thursday prompting them to call the police. An area-wide search was initiated while relatives began their own search. It ended on Saturday at the Queens hospital where D?Amico was admitted 48 hours earlier.
?Apparently, he went to get on a bus, he had fallen, he had a black eye, he was bleeding. The bus driver must have called 911 at that point,? says Frank, D?Amico?s son.
Family members say they are relieved yet furious with the hospital because they were not made aware of his being found. They say D?Amico always carries identification and his wife?s cell phone number. D?Amico?s Alzheimer?s disease makes him helpless, his son says. ?Something has to be done better in finding Alzheimer?s patients.?
A spokesman from New York Hospital issued a statement saying that the hospital is now considering the issues raised by Pat D?Amico?s family.
