The Mets opened their season at Citi Field Friday with a 1-0 win over division rival Atlanta.
Mets first baseman Pete Alonso believes the Mets have everything it takes to win the World Series, but what they don't have is actual fans in the seats.
Instead, fans have been replaced by cardboard cutouts.
"We know Mets nation is watching at home, and we miss having the fans in the stands. We miss you guys. But we know people are watching," says Alonso.
Mets ace Jacob DeGrom threw eight strikeouts in five innings. DeGrom is trying to become only the third pitcher ever to win the National League Cy Young Award in three straight years.
